From a student:
"I know that you know that there will still be kids who walk out of here rolling their eyes and talking about their next party. It doesn't seem to affect anyone. Why? Why is it that even the idea of pain and death and misery doesn't stop the drug-users around here?"
We knew coming into the convocation that not everyone would care. But if we could get 1 person to re-evaluate their choices, then it would be worth it. It only takes one time, one person, to shock a community and grieve a family for the rest of their lives. If we could prevent that one instance from happening by getting one student to think about their next action, then we may have prevented a fatal overdose. And that is worth it every time.
