Drug of the Week

We felt like it might be interesting to post some information that most of you have probably never thought about before concerning illegal and prescription drugs. So, we tried to include a very short description of some of these drugs and a few things to think about if you or anyone you know is using them. We will post a new drug every week and will include them in the link at the right of the page. Just click on "Drug of the Week" and you will be able to find the full list. Feel free to post questions or comments and we can explain them in more detail.

Week One: Marijuana

*One thing to note about marijuana is that it stores in the user's fat cells, meaning that the length of time it stays in the body varies based on how much fat a person has.

*It can stay in the body for up to one month

*It also can store in the user's hair for up to six months. (If a job application asks you if you have ever smoked marijuana, do not lie. They will be able to take a hair sample and it will test positive for marijuana for up to 180 days.)

*Therefore, if a user smokes weed on Friday and then gets into a car accident that kills someone on Tuesday, that user will still be considered "Under the influence" of marijuana and will be responsible for the death of the person in the other car - this can lead to serious prison time and extreme fines.

Something to think about.

Interesting information. Too many young people and people in general don't understand lasting effects, or worse yet, don't care. Hopefully sites like this, convocations, and more specifically, tragedies like losing Haley will open some eyes.

God Bless
